The Charles Ray III Diabetes Association, Inc. provided Tom Anderson of HOUSE SPRINGS, MO with a Paradigm Medtronic Mini-Med insulin pump thanks to the insulin pumpers and their families who support this organization.

    To Whom It May Concern:
For over 30 years I have been an insulin dependent diabetic taking up to 4 shots daily. My blood sugar levels have fluctuated dramatically and usually to the high side. I have used Humilin, Novalog, Regular and Lantus insulin. My doctor recommended an insulin pump to more adequately keep my glucose levels in check. I had looked into this method years before and due to the cost and lack of insurance I had to pass on this. I thought perhaps the cost had come down in the past few years so I contacted MiniMed and was told that the cost had actually increased over the last couple of years. Being a diabetic with no insurance I thought that this was the end for my attempt to get an insulin pump. I asked them if there was anyway to purchase the pump and pay by the month, they told me that would not be possible. MiniMed suggested that I contact the Charles Ray III Diabetes Association, Inc. because they help people like me who are unable to afford the insulin pump. I cannot say enough about this Association. Charles was quick to respond to my need and within just a few short weeks I was given an insulin pump. All you have to do is sign a waiver of liability, send in any donations that you can acquire and you can receive a pump. I can't tell you how great it is to not take anymore insulin shots, my insulin dosage which was approximately 60 units a day has dropped to 40 to 45 units a day with the pump. In addition, my blood sugar averages are running at 114 to 125; this is wonderful because now I sleep peacefully at night without worrying about either an insulin reaction in my sleep or waking up with high blood sugar. The peace that I have due to this pump I can't explain, I praise the Lord Jesus for sending me to Charles Ray, III and his giving of this great gift of a better life with the pump. I want to truly thank Charles for this gift and for making it so easy for me to receive it. God bless you and your Association for the work that you are doing.
    Sincerely,
    Tom Anderson
