Facts About Charles Ray, III

Charles Ray, III is a 37-year-old diabetic from Raleigh, North Carolina.

Ray was diagnosed with diabetes at age 17 and struggled with the lifestyle changes that were required of him.

After several years, Ray turned his life around and began leading a healthy lifestyle to control his diabetes.

In 1992, Ray began to share his story with others to provide encouragement and support and to raise awareness of this "silent killer".

In 1997, Ray filmed a national public service announcement with NBA basketball star James Worthy. The PSA was distributed nationally by the American Diabetes Association.

In 1998, Ray founded a non-profit organization to provide medical equipment and encouragement to diabetics who are uninsured or unable to afford medical services.
